What is Integrative Medicine?

Dr. Mahesh and Nalini Dave practice Integrative Healthcare. It is a new and fast-evolving way of modern medical practice. Thousands of physicians and healthcare practices are embracing the notion that aligning human life with the principles of nature is necessary for successful living. Preventing disease by addressing root processes that turn “on” disease can lead to better health. We treat individuals, not just diseases and body parts, recognizing one’s complete and constant connection to his environment.

Despite all the advertisements one sees on TV by major drug companies, diseases like diabetes, high cholesterol, arthritis, cancers and depression are not yet curable. With Integrative Medicine we bring more options for treatment of these illnesses.

Who else practices Integrative Medicine?

As more patients and practitioners begin to understand the merits of Integrative Medicine, major academic institutions so begin to study it in-depth.  Currently, the University of Arizona, University of California, New York University (NYU), Johns Hopkins, Duke University and still other academic institutions of prominence have begun their own Integrative Medicine programs for helping patients.  Many more major medical centers will likely begin to adopt this new combination of medicine.

How do we approach our patients?

For us, the patient is the center of treatment. We feel that the goal of healthcare is not only the treatment of disease but also promoting vibrant health, wellness, and the highest potential for human beings. Longevity is not about just number of years lived, but years of healthy life enjoyed. We help every patient engage and enjoy days full of health and vibrancy.

We believe that imbalance in mind, body and spirit can lead to a disease which can afflict one’s entire existence. For example, stomach problems, anxiety and unhappiness can all exist together.

Integrative Medicine goes beyond the familiar conventional care of history-taking and physical examination to reach a medical diagnosis that regular doctors do. We do more than that. Rather than practice one type of medicine, as integrative physicians we often combine testing, therapies and treatment approaches to ensure the best results for the patients.  The combination of allopathic (western) and alternative/complementary testing or treatments help us give you the best healthcare possible.

What treatments do you use?

Currently we use the following approaches to help patients gain the most out of our medical care.

1. Conventional medical therapies (prescription medicines, injections, and referrals to specialists as necessary)
2. Herbal supplements
3. Medical foods (Special prepared essential food derivatives)
4. Intravenous nutrition
5. Acupuncture
6. Ayurvedic methods of oil applications and rejuvenation and yoga referrals.
7. Bio-Puncture methods to relieve pain.
8. Nutrition supplementation

How did you learn Integrative Medicine?

Dr. Nalini Dave (Internal Medicine) and Dr. Mahesh Dave (Psychiatry) are Board Certified in their specialty fields. Both have studied Acupuncture, Bio-Puncture, Ayurveda and Herbal Supplementation. We are involved with A4M, the largest professional organization of physicians practicing Integrative Healthcare. We go to conferences, seminars, talk to colleagues, visit product shows and constantly update our knowledge, so that we can bring the best combination of above methods in service of your health. Many doctors cannot offer you above because it is not taught in conventional medical school curriculum and do not have time to study it. We continuously train ourselves in integrative complementary strategies and products with a record of safety and efficacy.

So we invite you to ask us about what we can do for you and more than that what you can do for yourself.

Celebrate your health today.
